Mocktails, also known as boneless cocktails, temperance drinks,  virgin cocktails, amongst other names are drinks that are a concoction of ingredients that are non-alcoholic in nature unlike those of a cocktail which are alcoholic in nature. The name mocktails is actually a shortened version of mock-cocktails which actually means that they are a mock version of cocktails which are alcoholic beverages that have the same structure as that of mocktails with alcoholic additives. 

These beverages are to be served on occasions where you have to entertain people who are not of the drinking age or if you just simply prefer to drink non-alcoholic drinks. They are easy to make and quick to prepare. Despite being uncomplicated they taste great.

Here are some mocktail recipes you can whip up in a minute and without hurting your pocket when you’re on a budget.

Virgin Cucumber Gimlet

This is a non-alcoholic version of the refreshing cucumber Gimlet drink. This is a very easy recipe to follow and should not be a hassle for even kids.

You need

  • 100 ml club soda
  • 5 slices of cucumber
  • 5 ml Zone Lime n Lemon Juice
  • 20 ml Zone Mojito syrup

How to make it

Put all the ingredients except the cucumber slices in a pitcher. Mix till the ingredients are all dissolved well. Add the cucumber slices and stir again. Serve in a cocktail glass and garnish with more cucumber slices.

Shirley Ginger

This is a drink typically served during daytime events like a pool party or brunch with your friends. Like the name suggests, it packs a punch of ginger. It is another very simple recipe to make.

You need

  • 100 ml of Ginger Ale
  • 150 ml of club soda
  • 15 ml of lime juice
  • 45 ml of Zone Grenadine Syrup

How to make

Mix all the ingredients in a pitcher. Add some crushed ice and stir until the drink is cold enough. Pour in a glass and garnish with lime slices or a small ginger slice.

Blueberry Mojito

This is a fresher, bluer, version of the staple mocktail virgin mojito that everyone altra loves. The added twist here is the blueberries.

You need

  • 6-8 mint leaves
  • 10ml Zone Blueberry Syrup
  • 10 ml of lime juice
  • 20 ml of Zone Mojito Syrup
  • 200ml of club soda

How to make

Add all of the ingredients together in a bowl and mix well. To the drink, add crushed ice and stir once again. Strain the drink to remove the residues we don’t want. Pour into a glass and garnish with mint leaves, blueberries, or both.

These are all simple and easy-to-follow recipes that do not require you to own any fancy bar equipment. They can be made at home with simple ingredients like the Zone Syrup or Zone Grenadine. The simplicity of the drinks does not change the fact that they are interesting and delicious to taste.
